I was involved in a science fiction/speculative fiction/fantasy literary festival and presented about the depiction of sex work in works of fiction. Many people wanted to listen to this presentation but couldn’t make it to the convention, but luckily I recorded it and it’s here to listen.
The abstract for the presentation
Sex work has evolved with the rise of technology but has the representation of sex workers in genre? What are the cultural repercussion when sex work is depicted poorly or inaccurately? What influences the stucture of sex work and how does this effect sex workers as characters and as labourers? Join a sex worker of 10 years as she unpacks sex work as potrayed on print and on the screen and relates it to the actual working experiences of sex workers today.
This presentation was accompanied with a powerpoint presentation and if anyone would like a copy of this please reach out and I will send it through
All the best,
Estelle
